There are only several cities on the map of Europe with such a unique position and rich history as those of Bratislava.
This strategic spot has repeatedly played a vital role in history of central Europe. In Middle Ages it was centre of Hungary it was part of. After Turks penetrated into the country, Bratislava was declared the Capital of the Kingdom and the seat of the Diet, the coronation town of kings and queens of the Kingdom of Hungary.
The centre of all important historical events was the Old Town with numerous cultural and historical monuments and interesting architecture. Although Bratislava became a relatively large city with almost half a million inhabitant, its Old Town has kept its intimate nature proper to Central European historic cities.
